The Kansas City Chiefs and running back Jamaal Charles have agreed to a five-year, $32 million deal that includes $13 million guaranteed, ESPN.com reports.

Charles, who was selected in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Chiefs, joins starting linebacker Derrick Johnson as the two players who have received new deals from the Chiefs during the regular season. FOXSports.com first reported Johnson received a five-year, $34 million deal with $15 million guaranteed last month.

Charles is ranked third in the NFL in rushing with 1,137 yards and leads all backs with a 6.2 per carry average.

Charles and veteran Thomas Jones have formed quite a tandem at the running back position. The duo has combined for 1,902 yards on the ground after 12 games. Kansas City is leading the NFL in rushing attempts per game at 35.7.
