The Washington Redskins headed into a Week 12 divisional matchup against the New York Giants with the division lead at stake, but veteran safety Dashon Goldson wanted to take the intensity up another notch. After a team meeting prior the game, he ordered the coaches to leave while the players convened for a players-only meeting.

Several players spoke and the topics ranged from holding teammates accountable, to motivation and intensity while on the field.

“A lot of dudes just had to get some things off their chest,” said defensive lineman Ricky Jean Francois, one of the speakers, per The Washington Post.

“I appreciated the leadership, and I appreciated the accountability and the honesty,” quarterback Kirk Cousins said.

The Redskins came out and played inspired football. They jumped out to 17-0 lead at halftime and finished off the Giants with a 20-14 victory after the final whistle to jump into first place in the NFC East.
