Redskins players head to Haiti for Hurricane Matthew relief

Washington Redskins players Pierre Garcon and Ricky Jean Francois will head to Haiti to assist people that have been affected by Hurricane Matthew, according to ESPN's John Keim.

The two players, who are of Haitian descent, will make a one-day trip to deliver supplies. Redskins owner Daniel Snyder has used his private plane to assist families in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew in the Bahamas.

Garcon has previously aided his family and people in Haiti after a 2010 earthquake ravaged the island. He told reporters that his family was safe after Hurricane Matthew.

The death toll in Haiti has surpassed 1,000 as the country fears a rise in cholera due to the contaminated waters left behind by the storm.

The Redskins will host the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at FedExField.
