Redskins' Goldson wants Kirk Cousins to be more vocal
Washington Redskins safety Dashon Goldson held a players-only meeting prior to Week 12. Quarterback Kirk Cousins is among the players who he hopes will step up as better leaders after the meeting. Cousins is enjoying a breakout season as the starter, but according to Goldson, the next step is for him to emerge as more of a leader to the players around him.
“This team is going to win with him,” Goldson told reporters of Cousins after Week 12's 20-14 win over the New York Giants, per ESPN. “We only go as far as he takes us. I just wanted him to understand that. As a quarterback, he’s got to be a leader, a little more vocal and take charge in what’s going on on the offensive side and as a team. Period.”
Cousins went 20 of 29 for 302 yards passing, a touchdown and no interceptions in Week 12. He has now thrown 16 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions this season. His growth on the field as a passer has been obvious, and now, the Redskins are asking that he helps boost the players around him.
