Redskins at Giants: Highlights, score and recap

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Here’s the latest Redskins at Giants highlights, recap, and score results info for their 2016 NFL Week 3 game at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

On Sunday, the New York Giants will host the winless Washington Redskins at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The game features the 2-0 Giants looking to stay unbeaten. It also features a battle that began off the field between one of the game’s top receivers and one of its top defenders.

Washington is coming off their second-straight loss at home and will play in their first road contest. In Week 2, they looked to be gaining momentum towards taking a late game lead, but were shut down by the Dallas Cowboys. There were critical mistakes made by Kirk Cousins throughout the game, as well as a bad snap to spike the ball attempt by the Redskins. That resulted in a 27-23 loss. They’ll try to bounce back against a New York team that has yet to lose.

That said, their last win wasn’t pretty. There were no offensive touchdowns scored, with mostly field goals and Janoris Jenkins’ touchdown return after a blocked field goal. It equated to a 16-13 win. The opening week saw them best the Cowboys in Dallas, 20-19. That leaves fans wondering if they can continue finding ways to win, or an opponent will be able to take them down?

Kirk Cousins and the Redskins will try to play their best football of the young season. The Giants want to continue their stay on top of the division with Philadelphia. However, with the Josh Norman versus Odell Beckham Jr. matchup, it could make for an intriguing battle between NFC East rivals.

The latest game highlights will be added to the section below as they are available.

Three stars of the game

Here are three possible stars of the game for Sunday’s game.

Eli Manning

The Giants quarterback hasn’t been throwing a ton of touchdowns and isn’t leading the league in total yards for passing yet. However, he has been solid through the team’s first two wins and now gets to go for a third at home. Look for Manning to try to guide his team to remain unbeaten in the league this season.

Odell Beckham Jr

Right now, Giants’ receivers have been benefiting from veteran quarterback Manning playing solid. Last week saw rookie Sterling Shephard take over as the team’s leading receiver with 160 total yards this season. Beckham is just a yard shy of that with more targets. Expect him to try to shut up Josh Norman with a top notch performance in this game.

Kirk Cousins

If someone is going to get it done for the Redskins, it has to be Cousins. He is No. 3 right in total yards thrown with 686 and is averaging 347 per game. His mistakes have been highlighted by plenty of analysts through the first two losses. He has that chance here to show he’s still just as good as the quarterback from last season who led the Redskins to the playoffs.

Odds

The Giants were a four or 4-1/2 point home favorite for this game earlier in the week. The over/under was listed around 46 points for the full game.

Next Week

For Week 4, Washington will host the Cleveland Browns at FedExField for a 1 p.m. Eastern Time game. The Giants will be on the road and play Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings starting at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
