Ravens part ways with RB Justin Forsett for second time in a month
It’s been a wild month for Justin Forsett.
After being cut by the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 3, he was re-signed shortly thereafter, netting him a nice bonus. His renewed tenure in Baltimore didn’t last long, however.
On Tuesday, the Ravens released Forsett once again, this time as a mutual decision between the two sides. Forsett also tweeted the news himself, thanking fans and the city of Baltimore.

Forsett, 30, joined the Ravens in 2014 after stints with the Seahawks, Texans and Jaguars. With Ray Rice being released by the Ravens, Forsett stepped in and played admirably. In his first season, Forsett rushed for a career-high 1,266 yards and eight touchdowns.
However, he struggled mightily this season and was benched Sunday in favor of Terrance West. In three games, he rushed for 98 yards on 31 carries with a long run of just 11 yards. Forsett noticeably lacked explosiveness and agility, which could be attributed to him getting up there in age.
With Forsett out of the picture, the Ravens are going for a younger approach at running back. Terrance West figures to see an increased workload, but rookie Kenneth Dixon should also play a significant role when he returns from a knee injury, likely this week.
West has averaged 4.3 yards per carry on 54 attempts (232 yards) and has the only touchdown by a Ravens running back this season.
Head coach John Harbaugh addressed the news, ensuring that this decision “doesn’t diminish him” in any way.
Forsett is now a free agent and is able to sign with any team.
