Ravens' Joe Flacco goes under the knife
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco underwent surgery Tuesday morning in Birmingham, Ala. to repair the torn ACL in his left knee suffered in Week 11 against St. Louis.
Renowned surgeon Dr. James Andrew performed the operation. At the time of surgery, it was unknown if Flacco would also need his MCL repaired or if it would be allowed to heal on its own, according to The Baltimore Sun. An MCL repair would likely add four-to-six weeks to Flacco's recovery time.
Head coach John Harbaugh indicated at the time of Flacco's injury that his quarterback would be ready for the start of training camp. The Ravens have endured a rash of injuries this season and currently sit at 4-8, a long way down from where they expected to be entering the season.
UPDATE: Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported that Flacco also had his MCL repaired and his recovery time is anywhere from six-to-nine months.
