Philip Rivers' support of the Clippers doesn't mean that much

This much is known: Philip Rivers went to a Clippers game.

The rest -- like whether or not the Chargers' QB is warming up to the City of Angels -- is mere conjecture at this point.

There are plenty of reasons why Rivers would want to watch Los Angeles' hottest basketball team. First and foremost, he needed to drive up north if he wants to catch a professional hoops game -- and U-T San Diego's Tom Krasovic says he loves the sport.

Writes Krasovic: "The Chargers dead-eye quarterback, schooling sportswriters who make him look like Steph Curry, has been known to swish jumpshots at a gym near his north San Diego home."

Krasovic also cites blending in the Los Angeles and San Diego sports scene. The Padres made waves by signing former Dodger Matt Kemp. The Dodgers did the same by trading for former Padre Adrian Gonzalez. The Clippers used to call America's Finest City home for years.

And maybe soon, their entire professional football team could pack up and move up the I-5.

The Twittersphere buzzes on. And there's only one way Rivers-Clippers would've caused more buzz, Krasovic writes.

"The cameras couldn't have missed Rivers on Friday," he opined. "Amid the L.A. glitz, he was as real as the Clampetts. Too bad Chargers owner Dean Spanos wasn't seated next to him."
