Peyton Manning practices after missing previous day with sore foot

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 5:06 p.m. ET

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Peyton Manning returned to practice Thursday after sitting out the day before with a sore foot.

The Denver Broncos downplayed the injury, with coach Gary Kubiak not seeing it as an issue. Kubiak said Manning's foot has been bothering him for a couple of weeks and was aggravated by playing on the turf at Indianapolis last weekend.

Manning routinely takes things a little lighter during Wednesday practices. He was limited last Wednesday with what was listed as a right shoulder ailment on the injury report.

The 39-year-old needs three yards Sunday against Kansas City to break Brett Favre's career passing record. Manning also is one victory away from surpassing Favre as the NFL's all-time winningest quarterback.
