There were such high hopes for the Carolina Panthers after last season. Following a year when they lost just one game, though, they’ve only won one game entering NFL Week 6. In serious danger of missing the postseason, Carolina now needs a win in a bad way. They’ll have their work cut out against another desperate team in the New Orleans Saints when the two teams clash at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in an NFC South matchup.

Cam Newton is expected to return for the Panthers this week after missing Week 5 with a concussion. Not that it matters, because Carolina has struggled no matter who’s at quarterback. Their young defense needs to step up and help lead this team against the Saints potent attack if they’re to have any chance.

As stated, Drew Brees and the Saints offense can still light you up. However, that defense is absolutely horrendous. If they’re to have any chance against the Panthers, the defense is going to need to make tremendous strides forward in a hurry.
