Moss on return: 'No, I'm done'
Randy Moss is back in New England and he's ready to play.
Golf, that is.
A Boston radio station caught up with Moss in a golf course parking lot and asked if he anticipated a return to the Patriots this season.
"No, I’m done,” he told WAAF. "I’m just here golfing, minding my business.”
Moss, who was traded by New England to Minnesota last season, then later was claimed off waivers by Tennessee, retired over the summer after finishing last season with just 25 catches in 16 games.
But he reportedly expressed a desire to return to New England, the scene of his career resurgence after two rocky seasons with Oakland. And at 34 he might still be able to contribute something to a Pats team that's not too deep at receiver.
Chad Ochocinco, acquired in a trade with Cincinnati in July, is still learning the offense, Deion Branch had zero catches in the preseason, Taylor Price is unproven, and Julian Edelman has had trouble staying healthy.
Perhaps most importantly, Moss has a big fan in Pats QB Tom Brady.
"I can't get into his brain at all. But I love the guy," Brady said recently. "He's a great friend of mine. If he ever did have the opportunity to come back, I'd certainly welcome him with open arms."
If Moss does stay retired, he'll go down as one of the most prolific receivers in NFL history, with nearly 15,000 yards and 153 touchdowns.
