Mike McCarthy doesn't want Packers to play for revenge vs. Seahawks

The Green Bay Packers are all too familiar with their Week 2 opponent, the Seattle Seahawks. The two squads have been battling for NFC dominance for the past few seasons, with the Seahawks getting the upper hand in the newly forged rivalry as of late.

Last January, the Seahawks came back to end the Packers' season after trailing by 12 points late in the fourth quarter of the NFC Championship game. Green Bay has not forgotten this heartbreaking loss, but head coach Mike McCarthy is reluctant to build it up as motivation during the rematch.

"Too much of anything isn't good for you," McCarthy said when asked about pushing his team to be avengers, per ESPN's Rob Demovsky. "I think that's something we all learn as we walk through life. I've learned that. I've coached teams too much during the course of the week, raised the emotion of the football team too much. So those are lessons that have been learned from my particular position of being the head coach here. That's not going to happen this week, I can promise you that."

The Packers were challenged by the Chicago Bears on the road last Sunday; the defending conference champions will pose a different test at Lambeau Field this weekend.
