McMichael plans to run for mayor

Former Chicago Bears defensive lineman Steve McMichael says he wants to enter the political field after being a star on the football one.

McMichael was a fan favorite as a member of the Super Bowl-winning Bears, and he says he plans to run for mayor of Romeoville, Ill. He is co-owner of Mongo McMichael's sports bar in the Chicago suburb. McMichael, who joined the world of pro wrestling for a stretch after his NFL career, also is the coach of the Chicago Slaughter of the Indoor Football League.

McMichael moved to the village in April. He says he was prompted to run by his desire to help the district where his 4-year-old daughter will attend school and conversations he's had with customers at his sports bar. It will be his first time running for office.

McMichael discounts his lack of political experience, saying he didn't have any experience at professional football or wrestling and he was successful at both.
