Luck goes through quarterback drills during Colts' practice

Published Dec. 16, 2015 12:50 p.m. ET

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Andrew Luck went back to work Wednesday. Matt Hasselbeck took the day off.

For the first time since getting hurt Nov. 8 against Denver, Luck was seen with a helmet on and throwing passes during the brief portion of practice open to the media. The Colts quarterback has missed four straight games with a lacerated kidney and a partially torn abdominal muscle.

But Hasselbeck, Luck's replacement, watched with his left arm appearing to be immobilized. He sustained neck and rib injuries at Pittsburgh on Dec. 6 and re-injured his ribs Sunday at Jacksonville.

While Luck sounded optimistic about practicing this week, coach Chuck Pagano said the Colts didn't expect Hasselbeck to practice until Thursday.
