Jay Cutler throws Hail Mary before halftime (Video)

The Chicago Bears might be 2-6, but they have the confidence of a team with a much better record.

It has been a rough start to the season for the Chicago Bears, as they seem to fumble away opportunities as they come to them. In an NFC North that is far from being decided entering Week 10, the Bears are still alive and in the hunt despite having a 2-6 record.

Maybe it’s because for every opportunity the team squandered, the team pulls something off like they did at the end of the first half on Sunday. After allowing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to drive the field and take a 17-3 lead, Jay Cutler willed his team into a touchdown drive courtesy of a Hail Mary.

Cutler ended the first half with that Hail Mary, but it came after he helped put the Bears into a hole thanks to three turnovers in the first two quarters. Cutler threw a pick-six to Chris Conte that now looms large. Without that, the Bears head into the half with the score tied.

But because of Cutler’s mistake, the Bears are merely starting to climb out of the hole they dug rather than fully emerging into the light.

The Bears are very much still alive in the playoff hunt over in the NFC. A win gets them to 3-6 on the season and capitalization on struggles by the Vikings and Packers is a must. Cutler is showing us both sides of himself in Tampa, as his three first half turnovers is the reason people in Chicago can’t stand him while also keeping an open mind to the possibility that a Hail Mary can happen.
