Things got chippy on social media after the newly crowned NBA champ J.R. Smith came after Darrelle Revis.

NFL pundits and the sporting world haven’t been very kind to New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis lately, and the hits kept coming last night.

After getting torched on a 84-yard fly route by Buffalo Bills receiver Marquise Goodwin (who is one of the fastest players in the league), the Twitter world blew up and let Revis hear it.

J.R. Smith of the Cleveland Cavaliers joined in on the fun as well, making clear what his thoughts were on Revis Island:

Now this was a pretty bold move from Smith. He hardly as an untouchable resume, due to the fact he is probably best known for streaky shooting, unlacing opponents’ shoes and walking around with no shirt all summer.

But he rattled the All-Pro DB enough to receive a response:

Ouch. He even threw in the eyes emoji to close the door. I think you have to proclaim Revis the winner on this one. It’s not like he lied; No. 24 will be heading to the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio one day.

Sometimes you have to make it clear who is boss, and Revis did just that. For Smith, he probably feels on top of the world after the Cavs’ thrilling championship victory. However, that doesn’t mean you can throw shade around on Twitter without consequences.

It is never easy to compare athletes who play different sports, but Revis has had a far better career than Smith. That is just fact. Luckily for J.R., the Jets corner cleaned up the mess later on:

At this point, Revis has cooled off and has acknowledged Smith’s game on the court. He seems to have expected more out of the shooting guard though after running into him before, as he refers to.

Put some respeck on Darrelle’s name, J.R.
