Gettleman on Newton: 'We believe he will take us to the promised land'

In case you missed it, the Carolina Panthers have officially paid their franchise quarterback. Cam Newton had plenty to say about the contract extension he received, which is worth $103.8 million over five years, but how about what general manager Dave Gettleman had to say about it?

As you know, Gettleman wasn't big on breaking the bank in free agency during his time with the Panthers, but he made sure to keep the man under center happy. Check out the tweet below from the official Twitter page of the Carolina Panthers:

Gettleman has faith in Newton and Panthers fans remain hopeful that Newton and company can get over the hump soon to make another Super Bowl run.
