Last season, Antonio Cromartie returned to the team on which he previously had a great deal of success for four years. Only, his second stint with the New York Jets didn’t go nearly as well as he or the team had hoped.

Cromartie played 15 games but didn’t pick off a single pass – the first time he’s done that since his rookie year in 2006. He also had just 29 tackles and was routinely beaten in coverage by opposing receivers.

Cromartie, 32, isn’t retired as of now, but he is without a team after being released by the Jets in February. However, he’s confident he’ll land somewhere soon.

Cromartie wasn’t completely healthy all season, but he’s right: He did look better toward the end of the year. He still looked like a shell of what he once was as he was unable to cover receivers with superior athleticism.

At this point in his career, Cromartie may need to sign a contract with minimal guarantees after his disappointing 2015 season. It’s unlikely a team will take a chance on him by signing him to a multi-year deal with millions guaranteed. Instead, it’ll have to be an incentive-laden, short-term contract.
