Eagles without 2 starting DBs; Portis out again

Philadelphia Eagles free safety Nate Allen was inactive for Monday night's game against the Washington Redskins because of a neck strain.

Allen, a rookie second-round draft pick, had started every game this season. Another rookie, Kurt Coleman, was given the start in Allen's place. Starting cornerback Ellis Hobbs missed a second consecutive game with a hip flexor injury, and was replaced in the lineup by Dmitri Patterson.

Eagles right guard Max Jean-Gilles was on the active roster despite a recent concussion, but his starting spot went to Nick Cole.

Redskins running back Clinton Portis was inactive with a lingering left groin injury. It's the fifth straight game Portis has missed.
