Dolphins rookie Jamil Douglas blames himself for loss vs. Colts

At this point in the season, wins by the Miami Dolphins aren't all that helpful. That doesn't mean they weren't trying to win Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts, though. They had a really good chance of doing so.
With 40 seconds left, trailing by six, the Dolphins needed just five yards to get into the end zone. Five measly yards. Following three straight incompletions by Ryan Tannehill, the Dolphins were faced with fourth-and-goal from the five.
Miami attempted to draw the Colts offsides with a hard count, but rookie Jamil Douglas snapped the ball when he shouldn't have. Everyone but Douglas stayed put and Tannehill was left standing there hopelessly as he was drilled for the game-ending sack.
After the loss, Douglas blamed himself for the loss, via James Walker of ESPN.
“I can’t say it wasn’t my fault; I mean it was my fault,” Douglas said. “I should have been locked in on that play. But, like I said, bad play by me.”
Douglas is a rookie guard, but was filling in at center for the injured Mike Pouncey. It was clearly a mistake on his part, but it wasn't the only one the Dolphins made. The offense managed just 12 points and was unable to outscore a third-string quarterback for the Colts.
This season has been nothing short of a mess for Miami, with this play being the latest example of that.
