DeAngelo Williams is the main reason the Steelers hardly lost a step when Pro Bowl running back Le’Veon Bell went down for the season with a knee injury. Will Pittsburgh be without both Bell and Williams for the opening round of the playoffs?

Williams was carted off the field during Sunday’s win over the Cleveland Browns with an ankle injury. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network said Monday that Williams is dealing with a sprain but could play through it against the Cincinnati Bengals.

“(The injury) might be the kind of thing that would keep him out a couple games in the regular season, but as we know, this is not the regular season, so do not assume DeAngelo Williams will be out this week,” Rapoport said.

The backs behind Williams on Pittsburgh’s depth chart are Fitzgerald Toussaint and Jordan Todman. Toussaint rushed for 24 yards on 12 carries against Cleveland, so you can understand why it is important to have Williams on the field.

We’d be surprised if Williams doesn’t give it a go.
