Colts hoping to get tight ends more involved in offense

The Indianapolis Colts boast a pair of talented tight ends in Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen, but thus far this season, the duo have been largely missing from the team's offense.
Fleener, who caught 51 passes for 774 yards and eight touchdowns last season, has just one reception for five yards so far. Allen, who caught eight touchdowns of his own a year ago, has three catches for 17 yards and score this season.
“You always want to have a bigger part of the pie, you know?” Fleener said, per Gregg Doyel of the Indianapolis Star. “But I think Dwayne and I are both of the mindset that as long as we’re winning, we are absolutely happy to do whatever role is called upon us.”
Unfortunately, at 0-2, the Colts aren't winning right now. Quarterback Andrew Luck said one key to getting the team back on track is getting the ball to Fleener and Allen.
“You know, I don’t think I’ve done a good job of getting them involved early in the game. … To be successful, they definitely have to be involved,” Colts quarterback Andrew Luck said.
After the Colts' Monday night loss to the New York Jets, Allen expressed some frustration about the lack of involvement thus far.
“First thing first is getting the ball into the playmakers’ hands,” Allen said. “It does no good to have all of these playmakers and not utilize them. You give credit, some credit, to the defenses that we’ve played … but at the end of the day, you can’t allow the defense to dictate what you do offensively. We have to dictate what the defense does.”
Fleener, who has been targeted just twice this season, agreed.
“I think that’s something that will hopefully be addressed going forward,” Fleener said. “And if our role changes, great. If it stays the same, as long as we’re winning, fine.”
