Colts head coach Chuck Pagano says this is his last job

Despite rumors that he’s on his way out of Indy if the Colts don’t make a legitimate Super Bowl run in 2015, head coach Chuck Pagano doesn’t plan on working another job after the one he has.

Speaking with Ray Lewis on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown, Pagano seemed a bit miffed that he’s being asked about future plans.

“My plans? This is my last job. And that’s what my plans are. We’ve won, and we’ll continue to do that. But when I took this thing, I said that’s my last job. And when I said that I meant it. I’m not going nowhere.”

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports recently reported Pagano wouldn’t likely be brought back in 2016 if the Colts don’t win a Super Bowl, because general manager Ryan Grigson and Pagano don’t agree philosophically.

Of course, Irsay has vehemently denied this notion.

“That could not be farther from the truth,” Irsay said, via the Indianapolis Star. “Ryan and Chuck work hard together. …They have a great relationship.

However, afterwards Albert Breer of NFL.com suggested owner Jim Irsay could be inclined to ditch Pagano and go “big-game hunting” after this season for a big-name head coach.

Needless to say, there is a lot of smoke swirling about Pagano’s seemingly tenuous future with the club. With that in mind, it’s not surprising he’s a bit salty.

If the rumors prove true, then it will be interesting to see if Pagano’s statement about this being his “last job” holds true or if he’s just saying this so that folks will stop asking him about it.
