Bucs place wideout Vincent Jackson on injured reserve with an ACL injury
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won’t have Vincent Jackson for the foreseeable future, placing the veteran wideout on injured reserve Tuesday due to a knee injury.
Jackson suffered the injury last week against the Panthers and an MRI revealed that he hurt his ACL.
“This is obviously very disappointing for me personally," Jackson said, via the team’s website. "I had high hopes for this season because I know what we are capable of accomplishing as a team. My top priority going into every season is being out there with my teammates and helping my team any way possible.”
Jackson has started all five games this season and is fourth on the team with 15 catches for 173 yards.
Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter said Jackson’s veteran presence will be sorely missed.
“Any time you lose a player and team leader of Vincent’s caliber, it is a setback for your team," Koetter said. "Vincent is a very tough-minded player and a great competitor.”
The 33-year-old veteran is in his 12th season in the NFL and fifth in Tampa Bay. He’s in the final year of a five-year deal he signed in 2012.
