Updated Mar. 4, 2020 11:30 p.m. ET

News is just starting to trickle out of Houston where the Hall of Fame voters have been squatting all day. It’s being reported that Miami Dolphins legend Jason Taylor has been voted into the Pro-Football Hall of Fame!

Taylor is in his first year of eligibility and faced a tough group this year but his statistics were able to stand on their own.

Taylor will join former Miami Dolphins head coach Don Shula, quarterbacks Bob Griese and Dan Marino, Larry Csonka, Jim Langer, and Larry Little. Defensively only Nick Buoniconti has joined the yellow jackets of Canton, Oh. Until now.

Jason Taylor’s 15 year NFL career was highlighted by 139.5 sacks that was good enough for 7th all-time. He posted 29 fumble recoveries, three safeties, eight interceptions with three touchdown returns. He scored six touchdowns on fumble recoveries.

Taylor was presented to the committee by Miami Herald beat-writer Armando Salguero. Salguero has been posting articles all week about Taylor in an effort to bump his popularity with the voters. It worked.

Accolades are starting to pour in but Taylor himself has yet to speak about the induction. The  HOF has not officially released the names of this years enshrinees. We will have more on this in the next day or two.

For now, thank you Mr. Jason Taylor for a wonderful career, wonderful memories, and for being a huge part of South Florida history both on and off the field. Congratulations Mr. Hall of Fame!
