Antonio Brown fined $11,576 for goal post celebration

During last Sunday’s game between the Steelers and Colts, Antonio Brown performed a pretty fantastic end zone celebration after returning a punt 71 yards for a touchdown. If you haven’t seen it yet, here it is:

Since Brown used the goal post as a prop, a 15-yard penalty was enforced for unsportsmanlike conduct. After the game, Brown said he was“full of excitement and in the moment” but there really doesn’t need to be an explanation. It was great and should be left at that.
While most of the viewers enjoyed Brown’s show of jubilation, the NFL wasn’t particularly fond of it. The punt return helped Brown earn AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors. The celebration afterward earned him a fine from the league.

Brown’s fine is $11,576 and will serve as another example of why some people say NFL stands for “No Fun League.”
