Andrew Luck looks to limit 'bonehead' mistakes in 2015
It's hard to find too much fault with Andrew Luck's game, but if there's one area the Indianapolis Colts quarterback knows he needs to improve on heading into 2015, it's turnovers.
As a rookie, Luck was intercepted 18 times. He second season, he cut that number in half. Last year, however, he was picked off 16 times.
"Your interception ratio is very important," Luck said Tuesday, according to the Indianapolis Star. "Cutting down turnovers is the No. 1 goal for myself as a quarterback."
Colts head coach Chuck Pagano agreed, saying Luck needs to focus on not forcing the issue when trying to make a play.
"Gotta know when to say when," Pagano said. "He's learned that over the course of his first three years. He was really good two years ago. Little bit high on the turnover side this last year. (And) he knows that."
The fourth-year quarterback said he realizes there's a danger in trying to do too much to make a play, particularly in the red zone. The result is sometimes what Luck calls "bonehead" plays.
"It's not OK to force the ball," Luck said. "Take a sack, or let's let the best punter in football go out there, or throw the ball away. Let's play another down."
