Why wasn't Tyson Chandler punished for punching Dwight Howard? (VIDEO)

During Dallas' Game 4 victory over the Rockets, Tyson Chandler and Dwight Howard jostled back and forth on just about every play both shared the floor. But Chandler took it to another level by throwing this punch in Howard's back. 

Typically, when one NBA player throws a punch at another, the punishment is a one-game suspension, at the very least. According to the Houston Chronicle, Chandler avoided it. How?
