Villanueva finds role in Dallas, wants to return next year

Considering how low expectations were when he was first signed aboard, free agent forward Charles Villanueva had a decent year with the Dallas Mavericks.

He appeared in 64 games and knocked down 37.6 percent of his threes from a position where that sort of thing can be extremely useful. But has Villanueva already played his last game in Dallas? Possibly. Even though, according to his exit interview provided by the SB Nation blog Mavs Moneyball, he wants to stick around.

"Yeah. I like my role. I embraced it, I accepted it. I've been in the league for 10 years and been coached by nine different coaches. I would love to experience the same coach again next year, but we'll see."

Villanueva's days of commanding a multi-year deal worth anything above the veteran's minimum are likely over with, which means Dallas could very well bring him back. Stay tuned.
