Rockets, Harden selling merchandise like hot cakes

Few basketball players in the world are better than James Harden, and few teams in the NBA were more successful than the Houston Rockets last season.

Add those two facts up and what you have is one of the most popular team-player combinations in the league. According to the Houston Chronicle, it also led to Harden and the Rockets jumping up the NBA's list of sold merchandise:

"The Rockets’ longest playoff run in 18 years apparently did wonders for their marketability. Rockets star James Harden had the seventh-best selling NBA jersey from April to June, according to information the league released Tuesday. The Rockets, meanwhile, were sixth for most popular team merchandise. Harden was not in the top 15 in the NBA’s April jersey sale rankings and the Rockets weren’t in the top 10 for most popular team merchandise."

Here's a shock: people back winners! Despite Dwight Howard's season-long battle with various injuries, the Rockets were an exciting team all last year. They somehow secured a two seed in the treacherous Western Conference, then came within seven wins of taking home the title.

And their future looks extremely bright.
