Report: Suns highly unlikely to trade Markieff Morris
Many of the Phoenix Suns are already hard at work in Arizona, building team chemistry and sharpening their fundamentals in optional workouts and pickup games at the team's practice facility. Among the notable absences is Markieff Morris, of course, as the disgruntled forward has reportedly asked for a trade.
But according to Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic, the odds of the Suns trading Morris are about as good as the chances that he'll join these workouts in Phoenix:
"It would be ideal for (point guard Brandon) Knight to spend September working with his starting power forward but a Morris early arrival is about as likely as a fulfillment of his trade wish.
"The Suns need and want Morris. They would not stand much of a chance to replace him by trade. They would have no chance to replace him by free agency. They do not have an adequate existing roster option."
The Suns have four weeks until the September 28 deadline for players to report to training camp. The hope for the team, then, is that another month will help heal the wound opened by Phoenix's trade of Morris' twin brother, Marcus Morris. That would be nearly two and a half months since the initial trade total.
The risk, on the other hand, is that Morris has said he will make media day and training camp "a circus" if he's not traded by then. So 'round and 'round the trade winds swirl in Phoenix.
