Report: Nets trade newly acquired Steve Blake for Quincy Miller
Just a couple of days ago, the Nets had too many point guards. Now, they don't have enough.
From Devin Kharpertian of The Brooklyn Game:
The Nets acquired Blake on draft night as part of the trade which brought Rondae Hollis-Jefferson over and sent Mason Plumlee to Portland. Brooklyn is now down to just Jarrett Jack and Shane Larkin after dealing Blake Monday and buying out Deron Williams over the weekend. Miller, meanwhile, enters a team full of non-guaranteed contracts. But, as ESPN's Marc Stein points out, he could stick around in Brooklyn:
The Nets have 17 contracts on the roster after waiving Cory Jefferson Monday and have to get down to 15 by the start of the season. That means, unless another trade is made, you can count on one of the partial or non-guarantees on the roster to be gone by the beginning of the year.
Earl Clark, Willie Reed, Markel Brown, Ryan Boatright and Miller all fit that description, though Brown started the final 29 games of last season and could turn into a stellar defender and Reed has a partial guarantee for $500,000. Speculatively, it could come down to Clark, Miller and Boatright all fighting for one roster spot in training camp.

The Nets traded recently acquired point guard Steve Blake to the Detroit Pistons for the rights to forward Quincy Miller, the team announced Monday night.
Miller, a former second-round pick, is another low-risk, young (22 years old) pickup who has yet to find his NBA niche. He was cut after two seasons in Denver and spent last season bouncing between the Sacramento Kings, Pistons, and the D-League. In 69 career games over three seasons, he posted averages of 4.3 points and 2.4 rebounds in 13.5 minutes per game.
