Report: Magic's Channing Frye is on the trading block

Published Oct. 2, 2015 3:47 p.m. ET

After an awful season with the Orlando Magic last year, forward Channing Frye has told reporters that he's looking forward to bouncing back in 2015-16. But if Frye is able to regain the form he found with the Phoenix Suns, it might not be as a member of the Magic.

According to Grantland's Zach Lowe, Orlando is making Frye available on the trade market, and the team isn't asking for much in return:

Frye is entering the second year of a four-year deal that pays him a reported $32 million. But Frye's deal could be attractive to other teams because it was front-loaded, with each year paying him less than the season prior. He's a fantastic 3-point shooter (even though he didn't show it last year) who helps a team's offensive spacing, but his defense is lacking for a big man. To make the most of his skill set, a team needs to pair him with a rim protector -- something Magic center Nikola Vucevic isn't.

Sources around the league say Channing Frye is available now for very little, though Magic officials deny it.
