Phoenix Suns
The Suns lost to the Minnesta Timberwolves 98-85, their worst offensive output on the season. The Suns also turned the ball over a season-high 25 times. Eric Bledsoe, who otherwise had a decent game statistically with 23 points, 10 assists, and 6 rebounds, turned the ball over a game-high 7 times. Devin Booker continued his super-hot to very-cold games finishing with 11 points on 4 of 10 shooting…The Suns are no longer in the top-5 in field goals made and defensive rebounds, dropping to 7th in the NBA in each category. They are still top-5 in field goal attempts, 2pt’s made and attempted (they are 19th in the league in 2ptFG% at 48.7%), in free throws made and attempted (they are coverting those at 74.7% which is 23rd in the league), offensive rebounds and total rebounds and steals. After the 85 point output against Minnesota, Phoenix is now 6th in the league in scoring at 105.6…Their terrible shooting overall puts them at 24th in the league in eFG%, which adds a 50% weight to three pointers, something they are 29th in the league in converting at 31.5%…With T.J. Warren still out, Eric Bledsoe has slipped into second in scoring on the tam with 18.3 points per game, only .5pts behind team leader, Devin Booker’s 18.8. Eric Bledose has further been improving his stat line all together now averaging 5.4 assists per game, and is third on the team in rebounding (from regular rotational players) at 5.9 per game…Tyson Chandler’s limited minutes against Minnesota hurt his per game rebounding average a he is now only averaging 11.7 per game. However, his 7 rebounds in 11 minutes helped to spike his rebounds per 36 minute stat and is now averaging 16.2…Phoenix is last in the league in fouls per game at 25.6…Jared Dudley is not expected to play in today’s game…
Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets lost a heart-breaker in their last game, an OT loss to Oklahoma City. Wilson Chandler scored a season high 32 points while grabbing a season-high tying11 rebounds…Jameer Nelson scored a season-high 21 points while also dishing out a season-high 13 assists…It took an incredible triple double from OKC PG Russell Westborook to defeat the Nuggets who converted on 13 of 26 three point field goal attempts, and shot 50.5% from the floor…Denver spreads the ball around and has seven players that average in double digit scoring…The aforementioned Wilson Chandler leads the team in scoring at 17.8 points per game…Jameer Nelson aveages 4.3 assists per game, with Emmanuel Mudiay second at 4.0…Kenneth Faried leads the team in rebounding at 9.3.Jusaf Nurkic is second with 7.8…The Nuggets are generally not that great from beyond the arc, as they are 15th in the league in three point shooting at 35.3%…The Nuggets are 2nd in the league in free throw attempts, averaging 28.1 per game, making 74.2%…Denver is one of the league’s better rebounding teams and are second in offensive and total rebounds…Whereas the Suns are a terrible at defending the three-point shot (28th in the NBA at 37.7%), Denver is 3rd allowing only 33.2% from beyond the arc…Over the past three games, the Suns are 29th in the NBA in Team Extra Scoring Chances, at -9.7. Denver is 2nd with 6.7, over the same stretch…
