Khloe Kardashian: Lamar Odom 'never asked why' he's in the hospital
According to a report this weekend, Lamar Odom isn't doing well, with doctors fearing that he might have suffered serious brain damage as a result of the events that led to his hospitalization in October. And on Monday, an episode of "The Ellen Show" aired featuring Odom's wife, Khloe Kardashian, and she offered an update on Odom's status:
Kardashian said that while Odom is able to smile and laugh at appropriate times, he still has a lot of recovery and rehabilitation ahead of him. Yet despite what must be a confusing situation, Odom has never asked why he's in the hospital, according to Kardashian:
He’s off of all machines that help his organs, but still he has such a long way to go. He’s learning how to walk again and feed himself again and put sentences together. Cognitively, it’s a long, long road ahead.
So he can talk?
Yes. Like today was … he couldn’t put a lot of words together today. But he understands.
Is he frustrated? Does he know what happened?
Well I can’t tell him. We tell him he had a brain injury, I can’t tell him how that brain injury was caused, because it will set him back.
Does he ask?
No. He’s never asked why he’s here. No, he doesn’t ask. He’s really confused a lot, we have to remind him, every day is different. Sometimes he knows who the President is, or his birthday, and then other times he thinks he’s 26, and I say, “I bet you wish you were 26, so do I.”
Kardashian, who is reportedly still dating Houston Rockets guard James Harden, told Ellen DeGeneres that she still loves Odom and will always love him. According to Kardashian, she put her divorce from Odom on hold because going through with the proceedings during his medical emergency would have been "insensitive."
