Is Zach LaVine ready for the next step in 2015-16?

Zach Lavine had the numbers and flash during his rookie season, but he's still far from playing at his best in the NBA. LaVine has a lot to learn about basketball, most of which involves decision-making and natural feel for the game.

He can shoot and dunk and handle, but he doesn't always make the right pass or take the right shot or rotate to the right spot on defense. It's all sort of off, but that's OK, considering LaVine is still just 20 years old.

Over at Rant Sports, though, Joe Middleton writes that LaVine could be on the verge of breaking out:

Many Timberwolves fans believe that Andrew Wiggins is the future of the organization after the 20-year-old won the Rookie of the Year award last season. He posted averages of 16.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists. Wiggins’ sidekick last season was Zach LaVine.

As a rookie LaVine averaged 10.1 points and 3.6 assists. After the All-Star break, he averaged 14.2 points and 4.2 assists. The 20-year-old won the Slam Dunk Contest on All-Star weekend, and he was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

If the Timberwolves have any hope of grabbing one of the final playoff spots, LaVine will have to take the next step as a player. With Rubio likely starting at the point guard spot, Minnesota will have to decide if they will start him over Kevin Martin or make him the sixth man.
