Is Elfrid Payton healthy enough to play in London against Raptors?

Published Jan. 11, 2016 2:27 p.m. ET

Orlando's Elfrid Payton has missed four consecutive games with an ankle injury, but could extra time off from travel allow him to be active against Toronto on Thursday?

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Magic coach Scott Skiles is still unclear about Payton's status for the game. Orlando Magic Daily, however, adds that Payton was able to participate in practice on Monday. Though the drills were non-contact, the publication reports that the "hope" is that he will play against the Raptors.

Orlando is 19-15 with Payton on the court this season. In the last few games without the point guard, however, the team has dropped three out of four. Payton averages 11.0 points, 5.9 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He's shooting just .419% from the field, which is a drop from last year's .425% rate.
