Hawks' DeMarre Carroll says he thinks he has a hip pointer
The Atlanta Hawks survived a potential Paul Pierce game winner in Game 4 against the Washington Wizards to earn a 2-2 series split and regain home-court advantage, but there was a price to be paid. After the game, reports surfaced that Hawks wing DeMarre Carroll was noticeably limping on his way to the locker room.
Carroll told Zach Klein of Atlanta's WSB that he thinks he has a hip pointer, although he expects to be all right.
Of course Carroll expects to be all right; this is the Junkyard Dog we're talking about. But if he is limited by injury in Game 5, that could spell trouble for the Hawks. Carroll has been stellar this postseason, particularly against the Wizards. He matched Atlanta legends Dominique Wilkins and Lou Hudson for most consecutive postseason 20-point games (6) in franchise history, and his defense is top-notch. Suffice it to say that the Hawks really need Carroll as close to 100 percent as possible if they hope to advance to the Eastern Conference finals -- although they'll get no sympathy from the John Wall-less Wizards.
