Gortat: I would love to play with a stretch 4

After watching the Golden State Warriors win a championship with 6-foot-8 forward Draymond Green playing center for long stretches, the days of "twin tower" frontcourt pairings may be extinct.

The Washington Wizards, with Marcin Gortat and Nene, are one of the few teams left that play two post players together at the same time.

Gortat, however, has been pretty candid about the benefits of playing next to a power forward who can space the floor a little better than Nene can.

Here's what Gortat told Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post:

“As much as I love Nene, and I think Nene understands this too, I would love to play with a stretch 4, with a guy who shoots the ball from the three-point line, because that automatically gives me room under the basket to operate and gives me more opportunity to play pick and rolls and roll to the paint where the paint is open,” the 31-year-old Gortat said during his exit interview last month.

“But also being with Nene, it’s a huge upgrade for me too because he brings a lot of attention offensively. The better defender is actually guarding him. I assume I usually have the weaker defender on me and I’m able to do a little bit more and then obviously Nene is a great passer."
