Drummond, Pistons set to start contract negotiations

Published Jul. 13, 2015 7:33 p.m. ET

The Detroit Pistons have a bright future.

That is, of course, assuming that they keep what they have. Their impressive collection of young talent is highlighted by center Andre Drummond.

The 21-year-old has had numbers comparable to those of an early Dwight Howard, and his presence near the rim is the No. 1 piece in the Pistons' future. That's why team president Stan Van Gundy will try to lock him down soon.

A maximum deal could be worth as much as $120 million. Negotiations are likely to come to that conclusion quickly, so don't be surprised if you see Andre making lots of money in a headline of the following weeks.
