Did Rockets do enough this summer to improve next year's team?
The Rockets did not add a third star this summer to help James Harden and Dwight Howard make a championship run next year. There's a good chance they don't need one to compete for the title, but it's the second offseason in a row that general manager Daryl Morey failed to improve the roster with an undeniably savvy move.
Bleacher Report has a look at whether it could come back to bite Houston next spring:
"If there’s a chance to add a superstar, it makes sense to do it. You can always find a way to clear roster space for a guy like LaMarcus Aldridge. But short of that, it doesn’t make sense to fiddle with working parts just for the sake of fiddling. The Rockets’ offseason might have fans feeling like a kid on his little brother’s birthday. Even though you don’t want what he’s getting, you still feel jealous because he has shiny, new things, and you don’t. That’s OK, though. After a couple of days, you go back to playing with your better toys and don’t care."
The San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers grabbed most of this summer's headlines with splashy additions that should make their teams better next season. Houston stood pat.
But it's fair to believe they'll be in the thick of things if they can just stay healthy.
