Anthony Davis leaves game after blow to head, suffers concussion
New Orleans Pelicans All-Star forward Anthony Davis left Monday's game against Houston with a minute left in the second quarter after taking a blow to the head in a collision with teammate Tyreke Evans.
The Pelicans said he had a concussion and was out for the remainder of the game. He had only nine points on 4-of-9 shooting with Trevor Ariza as his primary defender before leaving late in the second quarter.
Davis and Evans were going for a defensive rebound when Evans unintentionally elbowed Davis, who fell to the floor as Houston picked up the loose ball. Play was stopped after the Rockets scored, and after trainers looked at him for a couple of minutes, Davis walked slowly to the locker room.
"I'm sure he (Davis)'ll go through the (concussion) protocol," New Orleans coach Alvin Gentry said. "We'll find out later on exactly what the situation is."
Davis is ninth in the NBA in scoring (23.3 points per game) and rebounding (10.3) and second in blocks (2.47).
The Pelicans lost, 112-111.
