Montague, Meriwether become MLB umpire supervisors

Major League Baseball has appointed Ed Montague and Chuck Meriwether as umpire supervisors.

MLB executive Joe Torre made the announcement Wednesday.

Montague was a big league umpire for 34 seasons and Meriwether worked 18 years in the majors. They join Steve Palermo, Charlie Reliford, Larry Young and Cris Jones as supervisors.
