Former MLB superstar Ichiro Suzuki could get on base like nobody's business, swipe bags in his sleep and had infinite range in right field for the Seattle Mariners. Now, he's striking out high-school players.

Suzuki, 50, recently pitched a complete-game shutout on 116 pitches against a high school girl's team at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan. In said outing, Suzuki had nine strikeouts, while also going 2-for-5 at the plate.

Suzuki's professional baseball career began in the Japan Pacific League, where he played for the Orix Blue Wave from 1992-2000. Across that time, Suzuki posted a combined .353/.421/.522 slash line.

Suzuki signed with the Mariners for the 2001 season, becoming the first Japanese position player to play for an MLB team. In his rookie season, Suzuki led the sport in batting average (.350), hits (242) and stolen bases (56), helping him win the American League MVP Award. He then went on to log 200-plus hits for the first 10 seasons of his MLB career, leading the sport in hits for seven of those seasons. Suzuki also led MLB with an absurd .372 batting average in 2004.

Seattle traded Suzuki to the New York Yankees in 2012, where he'd play through the 2014 season. He spent the next three seasons with the Miami Marlins (2015-17) before going back to the Mariners in 2018 and playing his last two MLB games in the Tokyo Dome at the outset of the 2019 season. Suzuki also posted a combined .346 batting average across 78 postseason at-bats.

Suzuki finished his MLB career with two batting titles, 10 Gold Gloves, 10 All-Star Game nods, 3,089 hits (25th in MLB history), 509 stolen bases (tied for 35th in MLB history), 60 WAR and 107 DRS. He finished his professional baseball career (1992-2019) with a combined 4,367 hits.
