Cardinals' Grichuk finding his groove

Randal Gruchuk went 3-for-5 with a home run on Saturday, but that was just the latest big performance in his recent offense surge.

The Cardinals outfielder has adapted a bit of a new approach at the plate and the results are speaking for themselves.

"I think it's been, I'm kind of feeling for the ball," Grichuk told Cardinals.com. "Strikeouts have been up, so I'm trying to put the ball in play. I've been in between on pitches, chasing, trying to put the ball in play and not really reacting the last couple of games."

And if the stats aren't enough, Grichuk's manager has noticed the new approach as well.

"He's had a few strikeouts, but I think the double he got today when he got down to two strikes [shows] he's trusting his hands and not trying to do too much," Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said. "When you have that kind of power, sometimes I hear that guys like to put a little more into it, but he doesn't need to."
