Report: Kirby Smart won't leave Alabama until likely playoff run ends

Published Dec. 3, 2015 3:00 p.m. ET

The worst kept secret in college football at the moment is Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart's intentions to take over the head coaching position at Georgia. Until the announcement is made official, Smart is currently being held behind head coach Nick Saban's policy of no media contact for his assistants.

With the policy in mind, information is limited, as Saban himself claims to have no knowledge of Smart's intentions. That's curious, because according to CBS Sports, Alabama radio analyst Phil Savage knows all about it.

Savage claims his sources indicate Smart plans to finish the season with the Tide, even in the event of a long playoff run, which could run as late as Jan. 16 in the 2016 National Championship Game.
