SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) Coach Jim Boeheim and the Syracuse basketball community are rallying in support of Dwayne ''Pearl'' Washington, the former Orange star afflicted with brain cancer.

(hash)PrayersforPearl has become a social media gathering point. ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas gave the movement national exposure Monday. Bilas wore the all-orange ''Pearl'' warmup shirt that Syracuse players have donned on the bench in games since late January.

The 52-year-old Washington had surgery last August in Syracuse to treat the recurrence of a brain tumor. He has had the disease since 1995 and now requires around-the-clock care and a wheelchair.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money for his expenses.
