Men's 2026 World Cup

Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in extra time at New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, with Ferran Torres scoring the winner in the 106th minute. It marked Spain's second World Cup title.

The tournament was co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico — the first time three countries shared hosting duties. Mexico had previously hosted in 1970 and 1986, the USA in 1994, and it was Canada's first time hosting.

World Cup qualifiers are regional tournaments where national teams compete to earn a spot in the FIFA World Cup based on their performance in group and knockout matches. There are six regions that each have a certain number of qualification slots. A select number of playoff spots are also available. At the end of the process, there will be 48 total teams in the World Cup.

As a co-host, the United States Men's National Team automatically qualified for the 2026 World Cup. The team was eliminated in the Round of 16, losing 4-1 to Belgium.

The draw took place in December 5, 2025 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

The 2030 FIFA World Cup, marking the tournament's centenary, will be co-hosted by Morocco, Portugal and Spain, with three additional matches played in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay. It runs from June 8 to July 21, 2030, and will be the first men's World Cup held across six countries and three continents.
