FBI director James Comey testified in front of the House Intelligence Committee on Monday, answering a number of questions regarding a range of topics, including Russia, the Presidential election and wiretapping.

But during the lengthy hearing, Comey found a way to express his dislike for the New England Patriots as a metaphor while answering a question on why Russia might have aided Donald Trump and hurt Hillary Clinton’s chances during the 2016 election.

“I hate the New England Patriots,” Comey said. “No matter who they play, I’d like them to lose. And I’m at the same time rooting against the Patriots and hoping their opponent beat them because there’s only two teams on the field.”

But despite Comey’s admission, he was applauded by Rep. Rick Crawford of Arkansas for the FBI’s role in finding Tom Brady’s missing Super Bowl jersey.

“Despite your expressed disdain for the New England Patriots I think that Tom Brady would probably like to express his gratitude for the FBI’s assistance in recovering his stolen Super Bowl jersey so I’ll do that on his behalf now,” Crawford said.

Comey then opened up as to why he feels the way he does for the Patriots.

“By the way if I’m honest with myself the reason I don’t like the Patriots is they represent sustained excellence, and as a Giants fan that drives me crazy,” said Comey, whose comment was greeted by chuckles from the committee.

Crawford then asked NSA director, admiral Mike Rogers, about his feelings regarding the Patriots, to which he said, “I’m a Chicago Bears guy born and bred.”
