Spurs' Kawhi Leonard enters concussion protocol, will not play Saturday vs. Warriors

The San Antonio Spurs announced on Friday that forward Kawhi Leonard has entered the NBA's concussion protocol after being hit in the head by Victor Oladipo during Thursday night's loss to the Thunder. Leonard has been ruled out for Saturday night's matchup with the Golden State Warriors, a contest which could help determine who finishes the regular season with the best record in the league.

The schedule-makers have done the Warriors no favors this week, as Saturday night's game in San Antonio comes at the end of an especially brutal stretch. Golden State played Sunday afternoon in New York and Monday night in Atlanta, then flew across the country for a home game Wednesday against the Celtics before leaving town again for a road back-to-back against the Timberwolves and the Spurs.

Leonard is in the midst of an MVP-caliber season and is averaging a career-best 26.2 points to go along with 5.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.9 steals -- all while consistently being one of the game's best all-around defenders. San Antonio currently trails the Warriors by two games in the standings.
